Online math tutoring for grades 1–8
GradeNext provides online math tutoring for grades 1–8, combining AI-personalized practice with a dedicated 1:1 mentor. Lessons adapt to each child’s grade and skill level — from early number sense in grade 1 to pre-algebra and problem-solving in grade 8. Plans start at $49/month, weekly 1:1 mentor sessions are included from $99/month, and every plan begins with a 14-day free trial. Parents get a live dashboard to track progress by topic.

How GradeNext math tutoring works
Assess the level
A short placement test finds your child’s level in each math topic, so we know exactly what they’ve mastered and where the gaps are.
Adaptive practice
The AI builds a personal learning path and adjusts every practice session to your child’s pace, with smart revisions for tricky concepts.
Mentor sessions
On the Pro plan, a dedicated mentor meets your child for a live 1:1 session every week (three a week on Advanced) to explain concepts and work through mistakes.
Weekly tests
Short weekly tests check understanding and shape the next week’s learning path.
Progress reports
Parents follow results, strengths, gaps and streaks topic by topic on a live dashboard.
Math tutoring by grade
Every grade has its own milestones. Here is what GradeNext math typically focuses on in each year, from grade 1 to grade 8.
Grade 1 math tutoring
Counting and number sense, understanding tens and ones, and addition and subtraction word problems. Children also start measuring, telling time, reading simple graphs and recognizing shapes — including equal shares, the first step toward fractions.
Grade 2 math tutoring
Place value up to 1,000, fluency with addition and subtraction within 20, and adding and subtracting within 100 and 1,000. Kids measure length, work with time and money, and build the foundations for multiplication.
Grade 3 math tutoring
Multiplication and division concepts and fluency, rounding, and a first real look at fractions — understanding and comparing them. Students also learn area and perimeter and read data displays.
Grade 4 math tutoring
Multi-digit multiplication, division with remainders and place value to the millions. Fractions go deeper with equivalent fractions and adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions, alongside angles, lines and classifying shapes.
Grade 5 math tutoring
Decimals and place value, order of operations, and multi-digit multiplication and division. Students add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, convert measurements, find volume and plot points on the coordinate plane.
Grade 6 math tutoring
Ratios, unit rates and positive and negative numbers mark the move toward pre-algebra. Students write and solve equations and inequalities, find area, surface area and volume, and begin statistics with measures of center.
Grade 7 math tutoring
Proportional relationships and percent, operations with rational numbers, and solving linear equations and inequalities. Geometry covers scale drawings, circles, surface area and volume, and students are introduced to probability.
Grade 8 math tutoring
Rational and irrational numbers, exponents and scientific notation, linear equations and systems of linear equations. Students learn function concepts and linear functions and keep building geometry skills — a strong foundation for high school algebra.

Why personalized beats one-size-fits-all
Catches gaps early
Math builds on itself. A shaky grasp of place value in grade 2 becomes trouble with multi-digit multiplication in grade 4. Adaptive practice spots gaps while they’re still small.
Prevents falling behind
When a concept doesn’t click, practice slows down and revisits it — instead of moving on with the class and leaving your child behind.
Builds confidence
Working at the right level means more success and less frustration, and kids who feel capable in math are more willing to take on harder problems.
Children who are ahead benefit too: instead of repeating what they already know, they move on to more challenging work at their own pace.
Aligned to school standards
GradeNext math follows Common Core and state standards, organized by grade and by the same domains your child’s school uses — Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Number & Operations, Fractions, Measurement & Data, Geometry, Ratios & Proportional Relationships, Expressions & Equations, Functions, and Statistics & Probability. That means practice at home reinforces what is happening in class.
The Pro plan also adds competitive exam content on top of the school syllabus, and Advanced includes a dedicated competitive exam prep track.
